Trip To Germany

     All plans for Germany have now been finalized.  The group will leave Chicago on August 2nd and be returning on August 11th.  For full details, please go to Sister City Home Page and click on the events link.  Please remember that if you are planning to go, you must have a deposit of $100. per person to President Chuck Larsen no later than February 6th.

Letter Writing

     A pen pal exchange between 4th graders in Crivitz, Wi. and Crivitz, Germany is in it’s second year.  Students are excited about the letter writing program and have learned a lot about each other’s country and customs.  The Wisconsin students

of Linda Wadsworth’s fourth grade class correspond with those of Sylvia Meisner of Germany. The school in Germany is named Fritz Reuter School after a famous German author.

     The latest letters arrived in January. Students found many similarities as well as differences,  Wisconsin students thought it was cool that the German students like pizza, Playstation and Legos too.

     Christmas customs were shared.  Father Christmas came to their school party on Dec.21 and delivered gifts to the children.  Before receiving a gift they had to sing a song, recite a poem or play an instrument for Father Christmas.  After the party all students went to the marketplace to sing carols around the town tree.  Father Christmas comes to their homes on Christmas Eve.  Christmas Eve is when German children open their gifts with their families.
